Wow, was 2018 a great year for my blog! This was The Journey Through Autism’s first full year and I could not be happier with the progress that I have made. There have been so many fantastic moments this past year relating to my blog, however, a few of them really stick out to me. Take a look at some of my blog’s best moments!
Best Moments & Best Events:
Top 35 Autism Blogs In 2018 Award - January 30, 2018
I was so shocked to receive an email from Action Behavior Centers, LLC (Texas ABA agency) which informed me that I was selected as one of the top 35 Autism blogs of 2018! After only eight months of blogging, I was thrilled to know that my hard work was being noticed! I displayed the award web badge on my home page.
Empower Autism Conference - April 14, 2018
This year, I had the honor of speaking at my first out-of-state conference in Asheville, North Carolina! I spoke about creating Autism-aware communities for yourself, students, employees, or other loved ones with Autism. Check out an awesome video clip of this conference presentation below!
Certificate Of Special Congressional Recognition - May 2, 2018
Every school year, high school principals have the task of picking one student out of their whole high school to qualify for a student standout honor, which is awarded at a county-wide ceremony. Out of almost 2,000 students, my principal picked me due to my advocacy work. While at the ceremony, I was presented with many awards, including a congressional recognition certificate!
First Autism Educational Lecture - June 1, 2018
I was overjoyed when I was given the opportunity to speak at my first Autism educational lecture to three separate groups of high schoolers taking AP Psychology. Although I loved presenting, my favorite part was receiving a card with over 60 messages from high school students. I absolutely loved this kind gift and still look at it to this day whenever I’m down.
Autism Speaks Gala - October 4, 2018
I had the time of my life as an honorary guest at the Into The Blue Autism Speaks Gala in Beverly Hills this past October! A really great friend of mine, my cousin, and I went. I got to interview many celebrities and even got interviewed on the blue carpet! Check out a video highlighting some of the amazing moments below!
Largest Presentation To 400 Kids - December 19, 2018
Almost two weeks ago, I spoke to my largest crowd to date… 400 elementary schoolers! I talked about my personal experiences with bullying along with how to better stand up to bullies that are being mean to others that are “different.” I had a great time and I feel that the kids learned a lot. Check out a video clip of my presentation below!
